Happy Saturday! This morning, I decided to start my weekend off on a good foot. I got myself up and out of bed and headed to Zumba before Taekwondo classes. I haven't been to Zumba in years. When I first started my fitness journey, years ago, I started with fitness classes at my local gym and Zumba was one of them. A new gym friend at the time, convinced me to go with her. So we did. We went and we kept on going. I remember being so nervous that first class. I hid in the back and wanted to avoid the mirrors as much as possible. Now this time I wasn't nervous, I knew I wouldn't know the moves but I knew I would be able to pick up on it. I still avoided the mirrors, though!
Being back in a Zumba class was so fun. It was a great reminder that even though my body is still broken, it can still do things...I just need to do them differently. I modified the steps my body couldn't do and kept on moving. When it comes to fitness and starting out, any movement is a step in the right direction. For me the 60 minutes of movement gets added to my movement bank for the week. It is 60 minutes I didn't do last week and that counts for something! Activity doesn't have to be walking on a treadmill or running down a trail. Activity can be anything you want it to be. If you have specific goals, you can customize your activity to reach those goals. Right now, my goals are to become more active and to gain stability in my knee. So taking a Zumba class and modifying where needed is a great option for me.
What fitness goals do you have for yourself? How have you been reaching for them? Do you need help finding a goal to help you take your next step?
Our weekend is off to a great start, I hope yours is too!
See ya soon!
