How Do You Experience Life?

Published on 2 April 2023 at 09:36

Everyone has a different life experience.  On top of that, we all experience life differently.  If 5 of us are presented with the same situation, we very well may experience that 5 different ways and have 5 completely different reactions or responses.  Just because we experience something differently from someone else, does not mean that the other persons reaction or response is wrong, it is just different.

We all have a history.  We all have pieces of our lives that affect how we see the world, situations, and people.  I was recently presented with a situation that brought up a lot of feelings from my past.  I needed to take a moment to pause, breathe, and reset.  I needed to remind myself that I am not living in the past, that I have moved on from that, and I am a new person.  I needed to remind myself that the situation I am in right now is night and day different than what I have experienced before.  Have you ever experienced that kind of a feeling?  Feelings that have brought you back to a place that you thought you had dealt with?  Those feelings previously would have set me in a tail spin.  I would have spiraled and not been able to talk about the feelings that came up for fear of negative reaction.  I know now that I am in a safe space that I can express those feelings and they can be worked through together.  How do you overcome your overwhelming feelings?  Who or what do you seek out?  Finding healthy outlets during periods of uneasiness is a huge challenge.  Taking a walk, working out, listening to music, and meditating are all great ways to deal with those challenges.  Let's be honest, we are not perfect all the time so there are still those times where you and your best friend will sit on your couch, watching a movie while eating a pan of brownies.  You are allowed to feel, you are allowed to be hurt, just don't pack up and live there.  I know you have the courage in you to dig deep and find the courage to make a change.  One baby step at a time.

See ya soon!

I seek out my hubby or a dear friend or both. I'm also in a relationship that's night and day from the torture I lived through before. I still have days where panic sets in out of nowhere, but I have a great support system in place.

Those are great resources to help support you during those times. Good for you for making sure to reach out to them in those times.
