Do you ever have those days where things just go a little nutty from the get go? That is this morning. I didn’t sleep well last night and I still don’t know why. My brain just wouldn’t turn off for some reason. That made for a groggy morning. Now, before I take the kids to school, I turn on my work computer and get everything set up so when I get home I can jump right in. This morning, the work computer was not having it. It could have something to do with an improper shut down due to a power outage over the weekend due to our most recent blizzard warning. Kids got in the car, we drove to school. We are chatting away and before you know it, my teens are like, “Mom, you just passed the middle school”. You see, my younger two are still in middle school and I was talking so much I drove right past the school. The only thing I could do was laugh. I turned around at the next street and dropped them off.
Mornings like this can be chaotic! It can really set the tone for the rest of the day. Now, today could have gone one of two ways. I could have gotten upset and frustrated that I was tired and my computer wouldn’t set up right and that I missed a very well known turn. But instead, I chose to laugh. None of these issues were any one’s “fault”. It was just how the day was going. I wanted the kids to get out of the car with joy and laughter, not frustration and anger. I hope that my reaction to the morning has helped to set them up for a good day. How do you deal with these kinds of mornings? The mornings with set backs can be most challenging. Any tips you would like to share?
See ya soon!
