Travel Tips

Since my kids were little we have always traveled. Mostly to visit family with a few fun trips along the way. Each season of life required different travel accommodations. Now my kids are all mostly older and two of them are helping me drive now. But we still need to stay occupied. Half of the kids get car sick if they read or do other activities so we had to get creative to keep everyone occupied.

On one of our longer trips, we decided a game surrounding farm animals. Here is how it goes. The car is split in half, left side and right side...right down the middle. Each side is a team. Every time someone sees an animal they say, for example, "Cows on my side!" Or "Cows on your side!"  Your team keeps a tally of who claims the animals first. Now there is a way to lose your animals, if you pass a cemetery, you can "kill" someone's animals. However, if there is a church immediately following the cemetery, the animals can be resurrected. At the end of your trip, whichever team has the most animals, wins!  We have seen some amazing animals by playing this game. Llamas, chickens, goats, sheep, and so much more.

Other than fun games to play in the car we always have a solid snack bag full of everyone's favorites. From fruit snacks to Bel-vita, we pack it all.

Don't forget your favorite playlist!  We tend to rock out to a WIDE variety of things. From Disney to Country to musicals and oldies and more! The passenger is the DJ and the snack giver-outer.

We recently found a card game, "Shotgun!" The Road Trip Game, and we have a LOT of fun with that. It is a deck of cards with questions on them that help you to get to know your car-mates. I'll put the link below. My kids got to hear fun stories from when I was growing up because of some of these prompts! It comes with a cute little bag to store the cards in and we keep it in the glove box.

See ya soon!
