Minnesota Life

I have lived in Minnesota the majority of my life.  I have moved from the southwest region to the central region and there is so much to love about this state.  However, there are other things that I don't miss as the seasons change.  For example, my birthday is in February.  February is notorious for winter weather.  I have early memories of birthday parties being cancelled due to the weather.  For my 16th birthday, my parents tried to throw me a surprise birthday party.  A blizzard was called for for later on that evening.  I had been out with a friend and noticed on my way up the driveway, which was a feat in and of itself as it was very steep, I noticed an odd path had been shoveled.  As soon as I walked inside I found out, all my friends were inside.  What was supposed to be an evening of fun, ended very quickly so my friends could get home before the storm began.  A good memory, but tainted by snow.

This year was no exception to the weather.  Honestly, according to statistics, it was in the top 3 for the worst Minnesota winters for snowfall in recorded history.  This year, for my birthday, my friend, Leslie and I decided to do a sip and paint event.  We get to sit and chat, have snacks and paint a picture that is taught to us by an artist.  Enter, my birthday.  We got a MASSIVE snowstorm.  So, as one would expect, the event got cancelled.  We rescheduled for a couple of weeks later.  Lo and behold, guess what, another snowstorm and another cancelled class.  I began to think that me scheduling a time to paint was only going to cause more snow!  Well, tonight is another attempt at going out to celebrate my birthday. Keep your fingers crossed that we are over the snow storms and we don't get an unexpected snow squall.

Have a great day!

See you soon!

You guys have really gotten dumped on this year and we've had hardly any snow. Weird winter.

We sure have! These last few days of 80* have certainly helped melt things fast!
